M4 Sherman-Damast

The Boker M4 Sherman-Damast is a remarkable piece of living history, combining refined craftsmanship with authentic historical materials. Designed in 1940, the American M4 Sherman remains one of the most iconic tanks ever built. Produced between 1942 and 1945, it served well beyond the Second World War—remaining in use until 1957—and saw action on every major battlefield of the conflict. Beyond the United States and Canada, it was operated by Great Britain, the Free French Forces, China, and even the Soviet Union. Originally developed to replace the M3 Grant/Lee medium tank, the Sherman’s primary role was infantry support, spearheading attacks, and reinforcing defensive positions. With nearly 50,000 units produced, it became the most widely used Allied tank of the Second World War. Numerous mission-specific variants ensured its continued relevance well into the Cold War era. In collaboration with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, Boker has preserved an important fragment of this legacy. The Boker M4 Sherman-Damast features a unique 80-layer Damascus blade, forged from original materials used in the production of restored M4 Sherman tanks. These historic components were hand-forged by renowned bladesmith Chad Nichols in a customized Ladder pattern, evocative of the tank tracks imprinted into the terrain by the Sherman’s massive weight. The ball-bearing blade opens smoothly via a thumb stud and is secured by a robust steel frame lock. A Hinderer Lock-Stop provides additional protection against overextension, ensuring reliable and safe operation. The knife’s overall form pays tribute to the armor’s distinctive lines, while the decorative pivot screw is inspired by the Sherman’s characteristic drive sprocket. The slightly contoured burlap Micarta handle offers excellent ergonomics and recalls the camouflage tones used by both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps. A lanyard hole and deep-carry pocket clip (tip-up, right-hand carry) complete the functional design. Handcrafted in the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen, the knife is presented in a premium floating display, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and an individual serial number. A portion of the proceeds from each knife sold supports the Americans in Wartime Museum, a nonprofit cultural and educational institution dedicated to honoring those who served in all branches of the U.S. military and on the home front from World War I to the present day. The museum educates the public—especially younger generations—by sharing personal stories, historical realities, and sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom, while offering immersive experiences through restored vehicles, artifacts, reenactments, and special programs.
