Originally designed for covert missions during World War II, the Sleeve Dagger-also known as the Bodkin or Nail Dagger-was developed by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) as a discreet, easily concealed defense tool. This historically faithful reproduction from History Knife & Tool revives that legacy with exceptional attention to authenticity, materials, and craftsmanship.
Authentic Construction
The dagger is machined from a single piece of GCr15 bearing steel, mirroring the one-piece cylindrical design of wartime originals. Its triangular-ground blade, sharpened on three sides and accented with hollow grooves, reflects true period geometry for optimized thrusting capability.
Period Accuracy and Detail
A dark acid-washed finish provides an aged, battle-worn patina while protecting the steel. The checkered grip with four circumferential grooves ensures firm control without compromising its sleek, low-profile form. The mushroom pommel with sling notch supports traditional leather-loop carry for quick access.
The brown leather sheath and long strap with pin buckle allow for authentic concealed wear, including the classic sleeve or leg carry used by Allied operatives in the field.
